Lighting

Oh before I went off on my rant I was going to say Josie Long’s show at Club Ivy was almost ruined for me by the terrible stage lighting, at times I couldn’t see her face at all, and with such an expressive performer this is quite important. I hope they’ve cleared that up since opening night?

Geez what a whinger, will be in a better mood tomorrow hopefully, planning on catching Chris Brain and Elwood.

Saw Little Moustache there just now and the lighting was adequate to see the faces for most of the show, but with a skit show like Little Moustache that’s not really the best.

Also, the front fill lamps pointing stage left have quite ugly-looking orange and yellow gels on them – the most similar thing I can think of is the houselights in the Adam Concert Room at Vic, with this jaundiced glow to it. Arguably it would have been better to leave those lamps without gels.

    Try this again:
*The lighting was adequate to see the faces for most of the show, but large pockets of the stage reveals dark faces – with a skit show like Little Moustache that’s not good.

I agree. The sound made things difficult for me. I was right up the back and had to *strain* to hear her. Quite annoying.
    Josie was good though.
As for little moustache, the tech seemed to not have cues down properly – a couple of changeovers were strangely silent, then music up 2 sec before someone started talking.
